Arrest Made After Standoff

Yesterday morning, shortly after 9am, Wayne County Deputies were dispatched to the 4700 Block of Helm Road in Williamsburg regarding a report of a man with a gun following an altercation. Continued attempts were made to contact the suspect through multiple means. The suspect refused to speak with deputies.

Due to the suspect’s lack of cooperation, Wayne County detectives obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s property. With the assistance of Richmond SWAT and Randolph County Emergency Response Team and their armored vehicle, Shaun Fields, age 45 of Williamsburg, was taken into custody after surrendering peacefully. Shaun was transported to the Wayne County Jail with the initial charges of domestic battery involving a deadly weapon and intimidation with a deadly weapon. Several items of evidence were also recovered from the scene by Wayne County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

All arrests and criminal charges are mere accusations. All persons are innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office would like to thank Wayne County Emergency Communications, Randolph County Sheriff's Office, Richmond Police Department, Reid Health EMS, and the Richmond Fire Department Drone Team for their assistance and support!
