Beginning June 1, you can sign up for Summer Reading at Cambridge City Public Library or online at CambridgCityLibrary.READsquared.com Readers of all ages are welcome to compete for drawing prizes. Reading more books increases your chances of winning the drawing for your age category.
Did you know that children who read over the summer break have a much easier time picking up where they left off, ready to learn when school starts up again in August? We encourage parents and caregivers to read a book every day to your pre-readers and sign them up for summer reading as well. All of the public libraries in Wayne County have great summer reading programs with lots of fun activities and prizes, so head to your local library to get started!
Wednesday afternoon Summer Reading events for all ages will be at 2:00 pm at the Western Wayne Elementary Gym, at 801 East Delaware Street.
June 8 – Hedgehog Hannah will bring a fun and furry Animal Show.
June 22 – Kristi Ridgeway of Indiana DNR will talk about the ancient seas that covered Indiana.
July 6 – Famous Hoosier-Daniel Boone (Danny Russell) will share what the life of an explorer was like in the late 1700s.
July 20 – CR Ryan and Sons will present an exciting and mysterious Magic Show!

On July 27, we welcome the fabulous Lincoln Marching Band performing their State Fair program back “home” at Cambridge City Public Library at 600 W. Main in Cambridge City.

We are actively seeking donations to help support the Summer Reading program and events at the library. June Book Clubs
Our Senior Center Book Club meets Wednesday, June 22, at 1:00 pm at the Golay Center, 1007 East Main in Cambridge City. The Evening Book Club meets Tuesday, June 28 at 6:30 pm at the Cambridge City Public Library at 600 West Main. Both book clubs plan to discuss The Riviera House by Natasha Lester. Toddlers and preschoolers learn through play at Mother Goose Story Time, which happens on Wednesdays, June 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 at 11:00 am at Cambridge City Public Library. Mrs. Kim will share stories, songs, rhymes, music, movement, and fun with your child. All ages are welcome to enjoy the fun. No pre-registration is necessary.
Emerging and beginning readers of all ages will enjoy practicing reading with Amanda Corman’s trained therapy dogs at Cambridge City Public Library at PAWS for Reading. June PAWS for Reading dates are scheduled for Wednesdays, June 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Colt and Charlie are sweet dogs who enjoy helping children learn to read. Pre-readers are also welcome! Parents and caregivers may read books to a pre-reader in the PAWS program. Reading to a patient, non-judgmental canine friend can help people feel less nervous and self-conscious about sounding out words. Please call 765-478-3335 to register.
One-on-one Computer Help: Do you need help with a job application, a resume, or just general help navigating the computer? Call 765-478-3335 to sign up for an appointment for one-on-one help with retired business instructor Jodi Johnson.
 On Mondays from 3:00 to 5:00 pm in June and July, excepting Independence Day, Summer Art Club will meet. Summer Art Club is a partnership with Lincoln Mid/High School and is an extension of the school’s art club. Anyone entering 6th grade through 12th grade is welcome to attend, even if you do not attend Lincoln.
