Get ready, Birdathon is back at Cope Environmental Center, and it’s your excuse to turn the outdoors into one big, bird-filled adventure! From May 1-17, every step outside becomes part of the fun.
Think of it like a walkathon or readathon, but instead of counting steps or books, you count birds! Whether you’re strolling your neighborhood, sipping coffee by your feeder, hiking local trails, or exploring birding hotspots near or far, you’re in it.
Jump in your way:
● Bird Count: Stick to tradition by counting bird species you spot or hear.
● Photo Count: Love photography? Count the birds you capture through your lens and participate in our photo contest.
Bird anytime, anywhere:
Bird anytime from May 1 to May 17! Explore your backyard, local ponds, trails at Cope or take your birding on the road!
Fly solo or join the flock:
Be a solo birder, team up with friends in the Midwest or worldwide, or focus on photographing as many species as you can.
Make it count:
Ask friends and family to sponsor your journey, whether it’s a few cents per species or a one-time donation. Every bird you spot helps support conservation, education, and the protection of the natural spaces we all love.
No pressure. No experience needed. Just fresh air, a little curiosity, and a lot of fun
