How do you measure a year?
Coping with grief after the loss of a spouse
April 13 | 6:00 pm | Bard Room
About the Program:
While we all hope to love deeply, rarely are we prepared to grieve deeply. Now 15 years into her journey, Jackie Vanderpool shares her first year of grieving. This intimate presentation includes journal entries, good and bad advice received, and the raw emotions she experienced. Lifelong community member Jackie Vanderpool is many things: retired RN, international traveler through her HR work at Hills Pet Nutrition, a supporter of women through volunteer leadership at IWIN, Women’s Workshop Richmond, Cope Environmental Center, and other organizations, and caring friend and family member to many.
LIVE MUSIC at MRL!
Whiskey Shambles Duo
April 14 | 6:00 pm | at MRL in the Historic Courtyard downstairs
(Bard Room if it’s raining)
This concert is coordinated by music enthusiast Joe Augustin. He helps introduce cherished musicians to our local community. Doors open at 6 pm for mingling, and music will start at 6:30 pm.
Foster and Nathan Singer of Cincinnati’s award-winning blues band, The Whiskey Shambles, will return to Richmond for an intimate concert in the Historic Courtyard at Morrisson-Reeves Library.
Join us at 6 for refreshments and a good seat. The music begins at 6:30.
Taking the pitch-dark, hill-country side of The Whiskey Shambles “ultra-blues” sound and stripping it to its primal essence, the music of The Whiskey Shambles Duo centers on the interplay between Nathan Singer’s baritone growl and LaTanya Foster’s soaring lilt.
The result is earthy and ethereal, haunting and atmospheric, summoning up the ghosts of blues past before it was the blues–a moan through the trees and swamps, wailing heartbreak, revenge, and revolution.
This event will have a limit on the number of participants and will follow all current Covid protocols (contact MRL for the most current procedures). Advance registration is not required but is available to save your seat at MRL.
