Soak Up Summer While It Lasts
|
August is your invitation to slow down, step outside, and enjoy every moment of the season. Whether you’re hiking the trails, attending a family program, spotting wildlife, or simply taking in the beauty of the landscape, Cope Environmental Center is the perfect place to make the most of summer before autumn arrives. Gather your family and friends and join us for another month of discovery, connection, and outdoor adventure.

Summer camp may have come to an end, but learning never stops at Cope! Throughout an unforgettable summer of exploration, our campers discovered that nature is full of amazing surprises. One camper recently spotted a Milkweed Tussock Moth caterpillar. While its bright colors may look inviting, they serve as a warning to predators and its tiny hairs can irritate human skin, so it’s best look and not touch. These caterpillars feed on milkweed, just like Monarch caterpillars, making milkweed an important plant that supports many different species. Every discovery like this helps inspire curiosity and reminds us that there’s always something new to learn when we explore the outdoors.
