New Addition: Intern Fair

We’re excited to announce that this year’s Hiring Fair will also include opportunities for internship interviews for 2026 summer and 2026/2027 school year. Students who apply through the SFS Portal will have the chance to participate in interviews with participating employers during the event.

This will give employers an additional opportunity to connect directly with motivated students who are actively seeking internship experiences and help strengthen the pipeline between local students and Wayne County businesses.

Past Success

Each year, more than 80 students attend the Hiring Fair to discover job opportunities right here in Wayne County, and many employers have gone on to hire students they met at the event. The fair also attracts 80+ members of the public, giving employers the opportunity to connect with a wide range of potential candidates for their open positions.

What is SFS?

Student Future Success (SFS) is a new comprehensive work-based learning program connecting students from all six Wayne County high schools with local employers. All high school internship opportunities will be managed through the SFS Portal, hosted on the Chamber website.

Employers interested in hosting an intern can connect with Shawntel Baker to create a position posting that will be visible to students across Wayne County. Through the portal, employers can easily review applications, conduct interviews, and select the students who are the best fit for their organization.
