Aurora Borealis Lights Up the Sky
Where you able to see the beautiful display of Northern Lights Tuesday evening? Current conditions suggest that another show of colors may be possible tonight between 6-9pm. But these events can be unpredictable! Here’s what to know:
Use resources like NOAA, online weatherman/weather networks, or aurora apps.
While unpredictable, these sources can help you determine if you will be able to see the Northern Lights in your area and approximately when.
Check out NOAA Aurora Forecast here.
Find a dark spot north of where you live.
You’ll want an open horizon to see the lights.
Be respectful and don’t go on to private property.
Make sure your vehicle is not blocking traffic and keep your hazard lights on so that oncoming cars will know that there is a stopped vehicle.
Look north.
The lights may look faint at times, like clouds on the horizon.
Use the night mode on your phone.
The aurora may be right in front of you, but until your eyes adjust, you may not be able to see exactly where. Images taken on your phone will enhance the colors and help you know where to watch.
Enjoy.
This is one of Nature’s greatest shows!
