Dear Chamber Members,
As you may have seen, a temporary delay in November SNAP funding will impact families across our community who rely on this vital assistance. In response, several local restaurants have stepped up in an incredible way — offering free community meals to SNAP recipients during this time.
We are proud to recognize these generous businesses for their compassion and leadership:
5 Arch Brewing Company, Sweet Blessings, Mancino’s Pizza & Grinders, The Firehouse BBQ and Blues, Suzie’s Pizza, Thai Thara, IHOP Richmond, and Block Head Records.
We encourage you to share this information with your employees so that anyone who may be affected is aware of these local resources. A graphic listing participating restaurants is included for you to distribute or post.
To help connect families with available support, the Chamber has added a Food Resources webpage to our site with a list of organizations and programs offering food assistance across Wayne County. This page will be regularly updated as new resources become available. You can find it at wcareachamber.org/foodresources.html.
For those who are able, please consider patronizing these restaurants and businesses in the coming days and weeks — dine in, order takeout, or purchase gift cards. Your support helps sustain the very businesses that are feeding our neighbors in need.
Additionally, Gateway Hunger Relief Center is anticipating an increase in visits as a result of this funding delay and is in urgent need of volunteers. If you, your employees, or your organization can lend a hand, your time will make a meaningful difference during this challenging period. You can reach Gateway Hunger Relief Center at (765) 939-7100, [email protected], or visit gatewayhungerrelief.org for more information.
Our young professionals group, HYPE Wayne County, is also answering the call to serve with volunteer days planned at Circle U Help Center on November 12 and 27. We invite anyone interested to join these efforts. For more information about these volunteer opportunities, visit wcareachamber.org/events.html.
Together, we can ensure that Wayne County continues to embody what makes our community special — neighbors supporting neighbors and businesses stepping up when it matters most.
