wild robot 2

This summer, the library has been thrilled to partner with Every Child Can Read Wayne County to bring the beloved book The Wild Robot by Peter Brown into the hands of young readers. Thanks to their generous support, every child who signs up for the Summer Reading Program has the opportunity to receive a free copy of the book. In addition, children enrolled in the Golay Center’s Super Summer Fun program also received their own copies, helping to spark a shared reading experience across our community.

To celebrate this collaboration and the story that’s brought so many young readers together, we’re teaming up with Every Child Can Read and the Golay Center to host a special screening of The Wild Robot movie on Wednesday, July 31 at 2:30 PM at the Golay. This event is free and open to the public, as well as the Super Summer Fun participants. We look forward to closing out the summer with this exciting event that brings the book to life on the big screen!

Join us on Wednesday, July 24 at 1:00 PM at the Senior Center at the Golay as the Senior Center Book Club discusses The Winemaker’s Wife by Kristin Harmel, a moving historical novel set in the Champagne region of France during World War II. The story weaves together the lives of three women across two timelines—one in the 1940s and one in the present—revealing secrets, betrayals, and the enduring power of love and courage in times of war. With rich historical detail and emotional depth, this novel is perfect for readers who enjoy stories of resilience and redemption.
