What is a Birdathon?
A Birdathon is like a walkathon or readathon, but instead of counting steps or books, we count birds! It is an opportunity to get outside, learn your birds and help raise funds for Cope Environmental Center.
NEW THIS YEAR! If counting the species you see doesn’t bring you joy, we’ve got other exciting ways to participate too! You can choose to challenge yourself to see how many bird species you can photograph or how many locations you can visit during the Birdathon!
Keep an eye out for more information coming soon!

Our wetlands at Cope are bustling with new life! Right now, wood frogs have laid their eggs in the shallow waters, signaling the start of spring. These frogs are remarkable as they can survive freezing temperatures by producing a natural antifreeze in their bodies. Their jelly-like egg clusters will soon hatch into tadpoles, beginning their transformation into frogs.
Wetlands play a vital role in filtering water, preventing floods, and providing critical habitat for frogs, turtles, birds, and countless other species.
Take a walk by our wetlands and see if you can spot these early signs of spring!

We are excited to partner with My Home Park for an online native plant sale running from April 1 through May 31! By choosing native plants, you’ll create a vibrant, eco-friendly habitat that supports pollinators, enhances biodiversity, and helps local wildlife thrive. Plus, proceeds from the sale will directly support Cope’s mission to educate and engage the community in environmental stewardship.

Thank you for supporting Cope Environmental Center and helping us inspire a deeper connection with nature and sustainability. Your generosity allows us to provide environmental education and create meaningful experiences for our community.
