sturgisThe library board and staff remember Friends Board president Larry Sturgis with fondness and deep gratitude, extending our deepest sympathies to Bess and the Sturgis family. In addition to serving as Friends of the Library Board president, Larry was a longtime Friends Board member and a tireless volunteer, organizing and preparing books for book sales that generated funds for the library’s programs and services. You could often spot him serving refreshments, moving furniture, or helping with craft programs at the library. He passed away on January 9, 2025.

MemoryCareKits

The library is excited to announce a partnership with LifeStream to provide caregiver resources available for checkout at the library. Our Memory Kits and Parkinson’s kits may be checked out with your library card. These kits include resources and tools for increased interaction between the caregiver and their loved one. When you return the kits, you will receive a resource kit with valuable information to help. Additionally, we have a Care Team Resource Binder available for reference at the library. The resource binder is meant to be an
organizational tool for you to prepare in case someone else may need to step in for you—either temporarily or permanently—and to empower caregivers who help you with care needs.

book clubs

Join us on Tuesday, March 25, at 6:30 PM as the Evening Book Club delves into The Briar Club by Kate Quinn. Set in 1950s Washington, D.C., this thrilling historical novel follows a group of women living in a boardinghouse, each harboring secrets that could change their lives—and history itself. When a new resident arrives, uncovering ties to espionage and political intrigue, the women must decide where their loyalties lie. Full of suspense, strong female friendships, and rich historical detail, The Briar Club is a gripping read you won’t want to miss!

On Wednesday, March 26, at 1:00 PM, the Senior Center Book Club will discuss The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson, an unforgettable novel inspired by the true story of the Pack Horse Library Project in 1930s Kentucky. The story follows Cussy Mary Carter, a courageous “blue-skinned” librarian who braves the rugged Appalachian terrain to deliver books and literacy to isolated communities. Facing prejudice, hardship, and danger, Cussy’s determination to share the power of reading makes for a moving and inspiring tale.

Both book clubs welcome new members! Call 765-478-3335 or stop by the library to reserve a book today.
