Thanks to all of the super cute ghosts and goblins who came out this past Monday evening with your families for our big Halloween party at the library! We were excited to have around 65 people attending. We shared a story, told some silly Halloween jokes, had a fabulous parade through the library to show off our great costumes. Everyone made several different spooky and cute crafts. We rounded off the evening with donut holes from Jack’s donuts, served by our Friends of the Library.

Thanks also go out to Bob Ammerman for his excellent presentation on the Art of the Overbecks on October 2. Ammerman reviewed the Overbeck’s education, family history, explained interesting details about the pottery they created, and shared principles of their production. Ammerman also shared his opinions about evaluating Overbeck works as well as caution about possible fake pieces. Bob Ammerman is a longtime collector of Overbeck art and is a former area resident. His presentation was sponsored by Western Wayne Heritage.

In November, both the Evening and Senior Center Book Clubs will dive into The Alice Network by Kate Quinn, a captivating novel set in the aftermath of World War II that intertwines the lives of two courageous women across different time periods. The story follows Charlie St. Clair, a young American socialite searching for her missing cousin in post-war Europe, and Eve Gardiner, a former spy haunted by memories of her time in a secret female spy network during World War I. Together, they embark on a thrilling journey, uncovering hidden secrets and bonds forged in the heart of conflict.

Join us to explore this gripping tale of courage, resilience, and friendship. The Evening Book Club meets on Tuesday, November 26, at 6:30 pm at the library, while the Senior Center Book Club will gather the next day, Wednesday, November 27, at 1:00 pm at the Senior Center.

All are welcome, whether you’re a returning member or a first-time visitor!
