Home Invasion Update

Last evening, Wayne County Deputies were dispatched to the 1800 Block of Porterfield Road, which is just north of New Paris Pike in Richmond, in reference to a possible home invasion. It was reported the homeowner had interrupted the sole suspect who was inside of the home. The suspect was fired upon, who then fled the scene. The homeowner reported three firearms had been stolen. There was no evidence at the scene that indicated the suspect had been shot.

Our deputies and K9 Officers, along with officers from the Richmond Police Department and Indiana State Police responded to search for the suspect. We also requested aerial support from the Richmond Fire Department drone team and an Indiana State Police Helicopter.

The complete investigation will be forwarded to the prosecutor for review. At this time, the person remains at large. Investigators are actively following up on leads in an effort to locate the suspect. Contact the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office at 765-973-9393 option 2 with any information about the suspect.
