Susan Neville is the author of essays and stories inspired by Indiana’s history, culture, and people. In her latest work, The Town of Whispering Dolls, all 19 stories occur in a mythical town south of Indianapolis. Her work often uses womenβs experiences as the vantage point to explore complex contemporary issues ranging from the opioid crisis to the effects of the growing Midwest rustbelt, to the Klan and more.Β

Neville graduated from North Central High School in Indianapolis, DePauw University, Bowling Green State University, and in 2021, retired from teaching at Butler University after 38 years.
