For Pre-K

Music Movement and Stories

Thursdays from 10 – 10:40am

Location: Youth Services

Children will gather to sing songs, recite fingerplays, move their bodies, listen to stories while interacting with diverse props, and learn the beauty of combining actions with words!

Wiggle Worms

Fridays from 10 – 10:40am

Location: Youth Services

An interactive storytime that includes early literacy fun with books, songs, fingerplays, and body movement—practice using the five components of Every Child Ready to Read.

Developmental Screening

Wednesday, August 30, 10 – 11am

Location: Youth Services

Drop in for a developmental screening by Achieva at the Excel Center for your preschooler and receive a tote bag of books for your little one.

Sweet Reads

Thursday, August 24 and 31, 4 – 4:30pm

Location: Youth Services

This month, enjoy a sweet read and a tasty morsel with Miss Nancy as she reads from the chapter book entitled The Story of Diva and Flea by Mo Willems.

Popcorn and Paperbacks (For Mid-level young readers)

Location: Youth Services

Read the selected book at home, then join us at the library for games, discussion, and activities. Books are available to pick up at the Youth Services Desk.

Paper Mache Bowls: Program Pickup Kit

MRL’s Adult Program Pickup Kits provide a creative outlet to complete on your own time! 

An updated take on paper mache from elementary school. Use simple methods to produce interesting and creative bowls that can be used for trinkets, display, or given as gifts.

 

Microsoft PowerPoint Class

Tuesday, August 29, 5 – 7:30pm Sign Up

Location: Research Lab

2.5-hour course that covers creating slide show presentations on the computer screen that can be projected for a presentation. Learn how to enter text, graphics, sounds, and music to enhance a presentation with formatting and transitions. Prerequisite Class: Microsoft Word

Google Earth and Google Maps Tech Class

Thursday, August 31, 6 – 7:30pm Sign Up

Location: Research Lab

A fun class where we will learn the features of Google Earth, including placemarks, polygons, paths, and street views. We will work with coordinates and addresses to help you plan your summer vacation or future travels and determine distances between locations.
