Dear WayneCounty.info,
This homecoming marks a special year for JMM: 135 years of serving as a vibrant museum community – engaging both students and community members in experiential learning!
Maybe, over the years, you were one of the students who helped make JMM what it is today.
We are delighted to welcome back all Earlham College and museum alumni for our unique JMM Homecoming events! Check out what we have in store below.
Saturday, October 15th:
Joseph Moore Museum 135-year Anniversary Open House
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Visit the museum to see the galleries, enjoy a planetarium show, see the live animals, and help sort insect specimens in our collections. The Alumni Memories exhibit will be on display for alums to contribute a museum memory and read about other memories collected over the years at homecoming. All individuals, students, and families are welcome!
Alumni of the Joseph Moore Museum Gathering and White Mastodon Gift Exchange
12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Join past student employees and volunteers of the Joseph Moore Museum to celebrate the museum’s 135th anniversary. Bring a nerdy, wrapped gift worth $25 or less to participate in the optional White Mastodon Gift exchange.
Sunday, October 16th:
Nature Journaling Ecotour led by JMM student, Nathen Peck
2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Enjoy a back campus walk (less than 1.5 miles) and introduction to nature journaling techniques. Meet at Sadler Stadium (Earlham College Baseball Field) Parking Lot. To get to the stadium from Route 40W, turn onto SW 5th Street and then make a right onto Earlham Drive. This eco-tour is open to all community members, including students, families, and alums. The first 20 attendees will receive a free nature journaling kit (waterproof pouch, write-in-the-rain notebook and pencil).
Curious to learn more about these upcoming events? You can reach the museum at [email protected] or 765-983-1303.
