SR-2022

Coming up on Wednesday, August 17 at 6:00 pm at the library:  Hedgehog Hannah, with an exotic animal show.  This is an interactive program, geared toward children, and all ages are welcome.  This show had originally been scheduled for June, but it was cancelled due to illness.  We are excited to be able to reschedule this exciting event.

Thank you to Western Wayne Schools’ staff for hosting us for our summer reading events!  The elementary gym was a perfect venue for our presenters.

We’d like to give another shout out to our fabulous Summer Reading donors!  Financial and in-kind contributions have been provided by:  DOT Foods, Hometown Media Group, Judy and Jerry Huddleston, Mary Ellen Luellen, Mark and Virginia Parsons, Elaine and Jim Potter, Allen and Teresa Renaker, Bess and Larry Sturgis, and Kathi and Wayne Todd.  Thank you all very much for your support!

We Want Your Opinion!

Have you always wanted to have more input into the direction and plans of your community but didn’t know where to start?  We have an opportunity for you!  The Cambridge City Public Library is developing a new five-year plan, and we would like to hear your ideas as part of a citizen’s focus group, if you live within our service area.  If you would like to serve on this short-term committee that will impact our long-term plans, please contact Karen at the library, 765-478-3335 before Wednesday, August 31.

Emerging and beginning readers of all ages will enjoy practicing reading with Amanda Corman’s trained therapy dogs at Cambridge City Public Library at PAWS for Reading.  June PAWS for Reading dates are scheduled for Wednesdays, August 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31 from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm.  Colt and Charlie are sweet dogs who enjoy helping children learn to read.  Pre-readers are also welcome!  Parents and caregivers may read books to a pre-reader in the PAWS program.  Reading to a patient, non-judgmental canine friend can help people feel less nervous and self-conscious about sounding out words. Please call 765-478-3335 to register.

Toddlers and preschoolers learn through play at Mother Goose Story Time, which happens on Wednesdays, August 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31 at 11:00 am at Cambridge City Public Library.  Mrs. Kim will share stories, songs, rhymes, music, movement, and fun with your child.  All ages are welcome to enjoy the fun.  No pre-registration is necessary.

Save the date!  Indiana Incognito Author Extravaganza will be Friday, September 30 from 10 – 2 and Saturday, October 1 from 10 – 5.  Come visit with local authors from around Indiana, listen to them talk about their books and the writing process, and get your books signed.  Author space and an “author spotlight” time is available for just $10.  Proceeds to benefit the Friends of the Cambridge City Public Library.  If you are an author, please call 765-478-3335 for registration information.
