Free and open to the public.
Community members of all ages can come and make free art! We will have several professional artists on hand to facilitate participants in creating their very own artwork! Through the use of paint, drawing, and 3D design elements, participants will engage with the raw beauty and wonder found in the natural world.
We will have a variety of stations led by local artists. Rhonda Newsome will help participants make organic impressions using paint and plants. Participants will learn how to draw a perfect butterfly with Aria-Blair Bottorff. We will have additional stations including metal stamping and button making!
We will encourage insect-, animal-, or botanical-based artwork inspired by the natural world and the book “World of Wonders: In Praise of Fireflies, Whale Sharks, and Other Astonishments” by Aimee Nezhukumatathil and illustrated by Fumi Nakamura.
Whether you want to try a new art medium or have fun with a friend or enjoy family art-making, we welcome you!
This workshop is part of the One State/One Story: World of Wonders initiative designed by Indiana Humanities, in partnership with the Indiana State Library and Indiana Center for the Book. One State/One Story encourages Hoosiers to read and engage deeply with a book as part of a statewide conversation tied to Indiana Humanities’ current theme.
