Have you ever wondered about the intelligence of other animals, like dolphins? Dr. Melissa Shyan-Norwalt shares her expertise in animal cognition in this Oceans of Fun summer-reading-themed program! Dr. Shyan-Norwalt has conducted research on dolphins, nonhuman primates, and pet dogs and cats, with a focus on language, comparative memory, and problem-solving skills.
Dr. Shyan-Norwalt teaches Psychology at the University of Cincinnati and is a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist. In addition to her teaching and research, she maintains a part-time private practice, consulting on companion, domestic, and exotic animal behavior and animal welfare concerns for private individuals, laboratories, and zoos.

TEENS: Relaxation Week #2
Create your own indoor meditation fountain using rocks and water.
Registration is not required but appreciated due to the limited amount of supplies.
 
Ocean Craft Shore is Fun 2 (Same class as 2:00 pm) (Ages 6-11)

Calling all pirate enthusiasts and history buffs! Come hear the history of East Coast pirates and how they helped win the Revolutionary War! 
This program fits with our Summer Reading Program theme “Oceans of Possibilities” by showcasing the real history of our sea-faring pirate friends. 
Notorious pirate Ann Fost leads this program! Ann currently teaches 6th Grade Social Studies for K12, but you may have seen her around town in her Pirate Jeep. She loves all things pirate.

Adult Night Out: Escape Room
Calling all adults who like finding clues, working as a team, and solving problems! MRL’s Escape Room provides a fun challenge for you! Your team will be faced with a mission that requires working together to find clues, accomplish tasks and solve puzzles…all while the clock is ticking. Participants can register individually or as part of a group, but please know this program requires teamwork with other adults. This escape room requires a minimum of 8 adults, with the ideal size between 10-15 adults.
